One of the coolest things about our Pas de Deux class is learning from an incredible husband and wife duo who can coach from both sides of the partnership. From the male perspective to the female perspective, they help dancers understand not just how a lift works, but how it should feel for both partners.

Watch as they guide two students through new lifts, breaking down technique, trust, and connection step by step. 💫

For years, we’ve watched something happen over and over again…

Incredibly talented artists grow up here, train here, dream here… and then leave.
Not because they want to, but because they believe they have to. Because the next level of opportunity, professional training, and creative collaboration has always existed somewhere else.

So we began asking ourselves a simple question: What if it didn’t have to?

What if the next generation of dancers, musicians, visual artists, and performers didn’t have to move away to be taken seriously?
What if creative careers could be launched right here at home?
What if Roanoke could become a place where artists choose to stay, because the opportunities are already here?
Because the need in our area isn’t just for better dance training, it’s for a centralized, professional creative space where artists of all disciplines can learn, collaborate, and create without feeling like their next step has to exist somewhere else.

So today, we’re proud to share the next evolution of our space, and formally introduce

Star City Center for the Arts.

A multidisciplinary creative hub designed to meet the growing needs of this community.
A place where dancers, musicians, visual artists, and performers can access the kind of space and support that allows careers to begin, and continue here.

Star City School of Ballet is still here and continuing to expand. Our building is changing names to better accommodate local artists.

This is only the beginning. It’s an ongoing commitment. A commitment to building opportunity locally, so the next generation doesn’t feel like they have to leave to find it.
