Sebastian Vinet Summer Intensive Artistic Director - Ballet Technique • Pointe • Repertoire • Ballet History

Born in Santiago, Chile, Sebastian Vinet began his training at the Escuela de Ballet del Teatro Municipal de Santiago before continuing on full scholarship at Houston Ballet Academy under Ben Stevenson. He joined Houston Ballet in 2009 and San Francisco Ballet in 2010, performing principal roles by renowned choreographers including Kenneth MacMillan, William Forsythe, Christopher Wheeldon, Helgi Tomasson, Stanton Welch, Mark Morris, and John Cranko.

Vinet has appeared at international galas worldwide and was a prize winner and apprenticeship recipient at the 2009 Prix de Lausanne. He has served as a juror for prestigious competitions including Prix de Lausanne and Youth America Grand Prix, becoming one of the youngest invited judges in their histories.

In addition to his performing career, Vinet has directed international ballet projects and is an international guest teacher for institutions including ABT, Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, San Francisco Ballet, and Princess Grace Academy. His teaching work inspired the creation of the Bailarines del Mañana scholarship program and his artistic leadership of the Westchester Ballet Company Summer Intensive this year. We welcomed Sebastian at the beginning of the year and he fell in love with our area. He is happy to come back and provide this opportunity for dancers in Southwest Virginia. / Available for Private classes or coaching.

Born in Monterrey, Mexico, Andrea Salazar began her training at the Escuela Superior de Música y Danza de Monterrey before graduating from the John Cranko Schule in Germany. She danced professionally with Stadttheater Bremerhaven, Compañía Nacional de Danza in Mexico City, and Ballet de Monterrey.

Throughout her career, Salazar has worked with choreographers including Ben Stevenson and Demis Volpi, performing classical and contemporary repertoire. She has performed and taught internationally across Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Americas.

Salazar is a certified coach and PBT instructor currently teaching in New York City. In addition to her ballet career, she is co-founder of the Bailarines del Mañana scholarship program and maintains a parallel career as a professional makeup artist.

Giuseppe Bausilio is a multifaceted actor, singer, dancer, choreographer, cinematographer, and producer born and raised in Switzerland. He began his dance training at the age of three under the guidance of his parents and quickly rose to international recognition, earning top placements at the Youth America Grand Prix Finals. At just eleven years old, he made his Broadway debut in the title role of Billy Elliot the Musical.

His Broadway credits include Newsies, Aladdin, Cats, Hello, Dolly!, Hamilton, and most recently serving as Dance Captain for Sunset Boulevard. In addition to his stage career, Bausilio has appeared as Alfie in The Next Step and in the films Ode to Passion and Dead Man Down.

Beyond performing, Bausilio is an active judge and faculty member for Youth America Grand Prix. Proudly Brazilian-Italian-Swiss, he speaks seven languages and brings a uniquely international perspective to his work as both performer and educator.

Originally from Camden, New York, Will started dancing under Delia Foley (A.R.A.D.) and completed the Royal Academy of Ballet’s advanced syllabus with merit. He then attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City on a talent and merit scholarship. Will graduated with a B.F.A. in dance, ballet emphasis. A professional ballet dancer for nearly two decades, he has performed with: Roanoke Ballet Theatre, Manassas Ballet Theatre, and Ballet Theatre of Maryland,Richmond Ballet and Albany Berkshire Ballet.  As a choreographer, Will’s works have earned grants and critical attention, including *Poetry in Motion*—a ballet for Deaf audiences featured in *Dance Magazine*—and numerous collaborations with the Taubman Museum and Roanoke City.

Beyond the stage, Will has been a dedicated educator, shaping young dancers for over 15 years. His versatility extends to musical theatre with recurring performances at Roanoke’s Attic Theatre.

In a unique professional pivot, Will became a certified arborist in 2020 and now owns and operates The Dancing Lumberjack, a tree care and removal company that harmonizes his passion for nature with his lifelong artistry.

Will currently serves as Ballet Master for the Southern Appalachian Dance Collective, continuing to create original works.

Caitlin Smith is a dedicated ballet artist and educator with over 12 years of professional performance experience and a continued presence in the Roanoke Valley dance community. She trained with Ballet San Antonio and Omaha Theater Ballet as well as Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and Nashville Ballet before graduating from Butler University with a BFA in Dance. While at Butler, Caitlin studied under Derek Reid, Susan McGuire and Tong Wang as well as others.  She had the opportunity to participate in international programs in Poland, Russia and China.  During her career, Caitlin performed with Roanoke Ballet Theatre, Manassas Ballet Theatre and Minnesota Ballet.  While dancing, Caitlin became a Balanced Body certified Pilates instructor.  Her commitment to dance education spans more than a decade, shaping students across all ages—from preschool beginners to pre-professional dancers. Caitlin has taught ballet, pointe, pas de deux, and Pilates at institutions such as Roanoke Ballet Theatre, Little Leapers, and Joy of Dance in Northern Virginia. Her teaching style merges classical technique with a nurturing approach, fostering both artistry and physical confidence. Caitlin’s artistry, teaching, and service reflect a passion for movement, community, and lifelong growth.

Erica Sipes is a renowned pianist and music educator with a passion for empowering dancers through music. With a Bachelor's and Master's in Piano Performance from the prestigious Eastman School of Music, Erica has honed her skills as a staff pianist and practice coach at Radford University. Her extensive experience as a collaborator with symphonies and operas across the US has given her a unique understanding of the intersection of music and movement.

As a co-founder of the Alma Ensemble and creator of the Piano Music She Wrote project, Erica is dedicated to championing women in music and making classical music accessible.

She received her bachelor's and master's degrees in piano performance from the Eastman School of Music. She is the staff pianist and resident practice and performance coach at Radford University and has freelanced as a piano collaborator across the United States. 

 

She is a founding member and pianist of the Alma Ensemble, a trio based in Roanoke, VA that is dedicated to featuring music composed by women and has also launched a YouTube channel with Canadian colleague, Sandra Mogensen, called Piano Music She Wrote with the same aim. 

 

 

Ms. Sipes regularly appears as the pianist for the Roanoke Symphony, Roanoke Symphony Choir and Opera Roanoke. She also works as a practice, sightreading, and performance coach with clients who span the globe. She is frequently asked to conduct workshops about these topics that are dear to her heart. Her dynamic approach to teaching and performance will help you master the musical essentials, elevating your ballet technique and artistry. Join Erica for an unforgettable summer intensive, where music and dance come alive!

The full cost for the 32 hours of the program is $960 dollars.
